Where is Caroline? could be described as online travel game - while searching for Caroline you will be using different forms of transport, from simply walking to using planes, traines, rented cars, taxis or subway. You start in New York City with several available locations to visit, but also other cities are available in the game - Los Angeles, Denver, Miami, Chicago, Peshtigo and more.

There is no clear definition what online travel games are, but in general they are close to RPG games. While Role-playing games often are linked to fantasy world or post-apocalyptic reality, online travel games focus more on the travel than improvement of your character. Also they are usually set in current times and reality and travel itself is the challenge, not the enemies.
